Earthquake Off Coast Of Sri Lanka – No Danger Of Tsunami

A strong 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Sri Lanka at 02.33 a.m. local time today but there have not been any reports of damage or a threat of a tsunami.

 

The 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck in the Indian Ocean near Sri Lanka, according to the US Geological Survey. There have been no immediate reports of injuries, damages or deaths.

 

The earthquake’s depth was measured at 6.2 miles and was located 710 miles southeast of Colombo and 730 miles southeast of Negombo.

 

Sri Lanka’s earthquake is the third one to hit in the Asia area as both Japan and Indonesia experienced 6.4 and 6.6 magnitude earthquakes over the weekend. The two earthquakes were only separated by several hours.
