One Law For Yoshithe & Gota And Another For General
The President has called two military tribunals against the former Commander of the SL Army Gen. Sarath Fonseka who gave the leadership to the war against the LTTE and wiped out tiger terrorism after ending the 30 year old damnable war.
The allegation that is inquired by one of the military tribunals is engaging in politics while he was the Chief of Defense Staff. Relevant to this allegation, statements of two UNP stalwarts, who joined the government, and a Parliamentarian of the UNP have been presented as evidence. What is being attempted with this evidence, whether it is the truth or not, is to indicate that Gen. Sarath Fonseka had had political discussions with them while he was the CDS.
In a democratic country one of the most valued principles is that law should be equal to all. However, the law is manipulated in Sri Lanka the way it was done during the period of feudalism. The law is implemented in different ways for those who challenge Rajapakse regime and those who approve it. There is also a separate law for Rajapakse family. During the presidential election the statements made by Yoshithe Rajapakse, a son of President Mahinda Rajapakse who is an officer of SL Navy, were published in newspapers as well. However, President Rajapakse or any other authority has not taken any action to take him before a military tribunal.
Also, when state employees who are serving in administrative service are barred from engaging in politics President Rajapakse’s brother Gotabhaya Rajapakse, the Defense Secretary addressed political meeting during the presidential election and continues to make speeches on stages campaigning on behalf of UPFA candidates for the general election. He campaigns on behalf of the President, ‘Mahinda Chinthanaya’, Basil Rajapakse, Namal Rajapakse. These days he goes from school to school in Gampaha District and tells teachers and parents why they should vote for Basil Rajapakse.
Published here is a letter sent calling parents of students of Kirilla MV for a meeting participated by Gotabhaya Rajapakse.
