Forces caputured Alampil
The 59th Division have captured the sea tiger bastion Alampil. It is located about 10 kilometres south of Mullaittivu. Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said Alampil was captured this afternoon after the capture of Kumulamunai. With the liberation of Alampil Sea Tiger activities in the eastern seas will be greatly affected. The Nayaru lagoon situated in the south of Alampil had been used by the Tiger terrorists to transport supplies and harbour Sea Tiger vessels. The Brigadier said as a result of the capture of Alampil now there is a greater probability of liberating Mullative very soon.
Speaking to media the Military spokesman said troops also consolidated the Puliyankulam area situated to the North of Omanthei. Troops of Task Force-2 liberated this area today afternoon. As a result the Army has complete control over the A-9 Road from Omanthei to Puliyankulam.
